Akemi Homura and Kaname Madoka are the main characters in the series Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Throughout there is a consistent bond that ties the pair together and their destinies are firmly entwined. Homura dedicates her life solely to Homura and even goes so far to become the devil in order to allow Madoka to live a mostly normal life. It is also for the selfish reason of not wanting to part with her.
