Gateway Anime; What Was Yours?

At least I'm not doing drugs. I had seen anime before but I didn't realise the difference between everyday cartoons and the world of anime until I was going through my sister's hard drive. She had the first season of the original Sailor Moon anime series. I watched it, not in order, but I watched it all. At the local library you were given 200mb of data for each internet slip. And almost everyday after I watched the first season, I would go down and watch an episode on YouTube after school. And after I watched all of the episodes I started to be introduced to other anime through playlist suggestions etc. And here I am now. I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started watching more anime and reading manga. I am an addict now. But I'm happy haha. Most of the time people ask about gateway anime it's usually one of the 'Big Ones'; Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Naruto, Hellsing etc. The ones that showed up on TV before school everyw...

My Discussion: Elfen Lied (Anime)

My Discussion: Elfen Lied (Anime) My Expectation: From the title I had assumed that Elfen Lied was going to be something to do with elves and whatnot and because I assumed it was somewhat Germanic I thought of European fairy tales and whatnot. It's NOT like this. I looked at the 'Lied' bit and wondered about it and even looked it up on Wikipedia but I had forgotten what I had read until I eventually watched the anime. I looked forward to supernatural creatures created in the image of elves. *************************************************** My Initial Reaction: So I realised just how WRONG my expectation was when it came to Elfen Lied. I started the first episode and I was like 'oh, she does look elf-like' and 'I recognise these paintings'. As I tried to remember the name of the artist I just listened to the soft intro and thought it was different from most openings which show a lot more of the anime plot and characters in...

Sailor Moon SuperS

This part of the movie really seemed to get to me because it's the first time I'd seen Usagi truly terrified. I felt that this was a really strong Mother & Daughter moment, one they don't seem you've much. They're more like siblings. I also really live the song playing during this scene hahaha Poupelin's Flute. "Sanji no yousei" Also, the look on Usagi's face in the last frame says it all. It was fierce determination.
